Mazda Done Differently

One Fifty Consultancy came to us with their client Mazda UK who wanted to shoot a 3-part series with some amazing artists and creators that utilise waste materials. 

The Mazda MX-30 is an all electric vehicle that uses waste materials for a lot of its interior. We created this series to show how environmentally minded creatives appreciated how much effort Mazda had put into this car through applying waste materials, as well as showcasing the craftsmanship that goes into Mazda's vehicles, akin to the same level of craftsmanship shown by these amazing creators.

Mazda's slogan for this campaign was "Done Differently" and we really needed to highlight how Mazda was taking a new approach to this car just as our creators were taking a new approach to their products and art. We decided to focus quite heavily on the creative process of our talent and then linked that back to the car and how they aligned artistically as well as ethically.

The pre-production process involved some key planning meetings with the client, discussing a rough idea of how we wanted the videos to flow, as well as discussing some key shots that would feature at each location. The client then sourced our talent and structured the day to make sure we had time to film them in the making process, as well as time driving the car. 

The nature of an artisan piece means that a lot of the shots come naturally on the day as we let them go about what they do best. This brought a real authenticity to the films and felt like we really got to experience a day in the life of our creatives.
