OUR BLOG
Our Top Travel Destinations!
We sometimes get asked what we like the most about our career in video production, and there are many things that make this job so great. From getting to work with your mates and meeting new people, to covering live events and shows and exploring exciting businesses - to name a few! But one thing that always stands out as an answer, is some of the incredible travelling we get to do and some of the ridiculously beautiful places we sometimes find ourselves in! So much so, that we'll often be heard saying lines such as “How the heck did we end up here!?”
The joy of travel in our work
As a team, we'd all say that travelling is a top priority for us. Seeing the world and discovering new places is something we're all passionate about, so being able to combine that with our work feels like a real privilege. From the cold of the alps, the scorching desert heat of Dubai, the sun-kissed Mediterranean and the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean, we have experienced some breathtaking locations through our work - adventures we’ll cherish forever.
Sharing our favourite destinations
We frequently share memories and stories from our adventures, but certain places stand out more for some of us than others. So we’ve asked each member of the Gaff crew to share their favourite destination we’ve visited and why it stands out to them:
Dan - For me, my favourite trip is probably Thailand. I'd never even been to Asia before and so many friends had visited Thailand and said how great it was, so it was right at the top of my bucket list. Everything from the laid back nature of the people, the incredible food and unbelievable mountainous landscape makes it a special place for me. Although my favourite moment was probably visiting the Thai boxing bar on Ko Phi Phi Don, because watching in-experienced tourists voluntarily fight in a boxing ring isn't something you get to see every day in England (for good reason)!
Ryan - That’s a difficult question. All the trips were amazing and had their highlights. Thailand was awesome, and I loved some of the activities in Dubai. But I think Montgenèvre, up in the mountains, was one of my favourites! Working with some amazing actors, getting to take part in snowboarding and working with some incredible kit for the first time like the Arri Alexa was awesome.
Dom - For me, it’s Croatia. Purely for the ‘oh dang, we’re actually doing this’ moment. Croatia took me by surprise at how beautiful it was and, of course, it was our first time yachting around which despite being a more regular occurrence now, still hasn’t got old!
Tye - I think it actually has to be Croatia. It was hot, no rain and just beautiful. There also weren't many people around, so it felt a bit untouched compared to some of the tourist locations I've been to.
James - Saint Lucia has to be my favourite. It was super beautiful and the staff we were working with for The Moorings were incredible. My favourite experiences were swimming at sunset, snorkelling and being on top of the catamaran during a pink sunset. Unforgettable…
We don’t take any of this for granted and are fully aware of how lucky we are to call this “work.” Each and every film from our trips is something we look back on with pride, saying, “How awesome was that!” Without a doubt, these projects represent some of, if not the best content we've captured as a team.
